Colmar Tropicale Berjaya Hills French Village at Bukit Tinggi
Colmar Tropicale Berjaya Hills Resort is actually inspired by the original Colmar Village in Alsace, France and is owned and developed by the Berjaya Group (a local Malaysian company).
When it originally started, this resort was called Bukit Tinggi Resort until a few years ago when the group decided to rename it to their own branding.
This was my 3rd visit to the place since it was first opened, and I cannot recall when that was. The first time I visited Bukit Tinggi, they actually had a mini slot machine room in one outlet.
Just like Genting Highlands, the place was filled with people pulling away on the 25+ machines hoping to strike it rich, but sadly, the machines were removed due to some licensing issues.
Cobblestone walkway.And there are no stopovers on the way up, and the hill’s average height is around 2,700 to 3,500 feet, so the air is pretty cool and fresh. Perfect for getting away from the city.
Berjaya Hills Colmar Tropicale Castle.The castle looks very authentic from the outside, and the facade is very nicely done to resemble a traditional castle.
Apparently, the owners took some time to get it right with the proper materials and skilled workers from asking around.

Who would have thought that this was possible, and the Berjaya group made it happen, so, for anyone looking for a feel of France, this is the place to visit on a budget.
For photography and a day trip, everything is perfect here, but on the downside, what spoils the mood is the overall feeling of the place, the management, and the staff’s mentality.
If the owners put in some effort in proper hospitality and management, I think this place would do so well.
Medieval Suit of Armour.
They looked well taken care of and apparently imported from Italy after looking closely at the details and note. I was impressed as I can imagine only seeing these in Europe but now, here in Malaysia.

View from the top of the tower.Anyway, it resembles a lookout tower which is about four stories high, and you can see the entire town from the top or turn around and see the beautiful green view of the hills.
Food at Colmar Tropicale Bukit Tinggi
Pizza at the local restaurant.There are no 7-11’s or Mamak (local coffee shops) there but only restaurants and cafes. It seems like after everyone makes their way up there, they simply settle at the cafes to have a quick drink or some snacks. Just like we did with the Pizza and Chicken Wings.

Rooms are available at the resort, meaning you stay in the French-themed town itself. They also have a golf course, paintball, Japanese Garden there. But a day trip would be enough to cover everything.
If you are expecting other activities like what Genting has, take note that there is none. This place now serves as a family or couple getaway with standard resort facilities.
Now the place serves as a plain highland resort, unlike Genting Highlands. Nevertheless, this place is great if you have kids or would just like a day trip somewhere.
On a side note, many local couples seem to come here for their wedding photography as this place is quite beautiful as a natural landscape.

Colmar Tropicale Berjaya Hills Information
The Colmar Tropicale Resort and Hotel rates are averaging from RM195.00 to RM460.00 (2008 rates).
They also offer full board packages or other types of deals; therefore, you can inquire directly with them.
The Berjaya Hills Golf and Country Club rates for rooms are from RM165.00 to RM800.00 (2008 rates). These are suitable for golfers and golfing families.
The Japanese Village rooms are RM1,100 (2008 rates) for 2D/1N. However, there are many promotional and special packages that you can inquire about.

I highly recommend this for anyone wanting to experience a hill resort, especially when the air up here is very refreshing.
Tourists who are thinking of what to do in their spare time can contact a travel agent to arrange a day trip or an overnight trip.
Malaysia is a wonderful place to visit where there are various opportunities to experience the different types of resorts, and Bukit Tinggi is one of them.
For local tourists visiting Kuala Lumpur, and if you have some extra time on hand, you can easily make a day trip up here to experience this lovely place.
Locals also tend to make this place a day-trip, and for me, when I have some spare time, I would make another trip to the Colmar Tropicale Berjaya Hills French Village at Bukit Tinggi just to see what is new.
