The floating market picture above was taken from a bridge at the Khlong Hae Floating Market in Hat Yai, Southern Thailand.

I was visiting the Trang-Satun district under Tourism Thailand on a familiarization trip in June 2010 when we made a stop here to experience this unique culture of the Thai people.

I visited this place several times from 2010 to 2015, and it is highly recommended that anyone visiting this part of Thailand experience this unique floating market.
The main highlight is that visitors can try some Southern Thai foods cooked and sold by local boat vendors. The beauty is that some vendors actually cook the food when you order.
The types of food sold are mostly snacks, cakes, and drinks, whereas heavier meals are found on land, but the main food bazaar is near the floating market.

Where is the Hat Yai Floating Market?

The Khlong Hae Floating Market, or Khlonghae Floating Market, is about 4 kilometres from Hat Yai (หาดใหญ่) in the Tambon Khlonghae district.
It is open from Friday to Sunday from 1.00 pm till 9.00 pm. Below is the actual location of the floating market from Google Maps.
Conclusion

Boat trips and tours are available for those interested in a different kind of experience, and you need to find the people who can arrange this. Read more about the floating market in Hat Yai in my other article.

Read my other article about where to go in Hat Yai. Hoards of tourists and locals are seen here, and the floating market is one of the main tourist attractions of Hat Yai in Southern Thailand.

Nice picture, I bet there are some incredible foods coming off those boats. I've been to about 5 floating markets in Bangkok now and haven't been disappointed yet!

Hi Migationology, thanks and I plan to see the others. I think this one here is more Southern influenced and you are right about the food here. Awesome! My article should be out by the end of this week.
