Ko Lipe Beach, Sun and Rain Photo

Here is one of my favourite photos of Ko Lipe beach with the sun shining and the rain coming in at the far end. After taking this photo, it took about ten minutes before the rain hit the island.

This photo was taken from the Mountain Resort at Koh Lipe during one of my stays here. I found the moment extra magical when everything tried to happen simultaneously.

Ko Lipe is one of the trendy island destinations in Southern Thailand, and the great thing about this island is that there are no cars or buses. And to get here, you can only take a boat or ferry as there are no airports.

For more information about this beautiful island, read about how to go to Koh Lipe. You should know what is available as this differs from your regular island.

There is minimal infrastructure here, while life is laid back and simple. Among all the islands I have visited around this region, Ko Lipe Island is the one that captivated me the most.

Trust me, once you have come here, you will know why. Also, if you visit during the peak period, it can get really crowded; therefore, I suggest visiting Ko Lipe just when the season starts in September.

hey, is it koh lepe or lipe? its the one on the west coast, north of langkawi and south of phuket right? depart from satun? did you drive? when i went in 1993, we drove thru wang kelian, a shanty border outpost i couldnt believe existed in kedah! the island was idyllic, but the diving was like diving in tom yam.

Fatboybakes, at one time it was Lepae, then Lepe and now officially it's Ko Lipe. Yes, north of LKG (40 mins by speedboat) or you can go via Pak Bara in Satun.

damn, 40 mins by speedboat from lkg!!! it took us 5 hours to get there back in yesteryear!!! and 7 hours to get back, coz the waves were mini tsunami high!!! lucky youth of today! everywhere so accessible.

Here on Lipe Island, you can also learn the way of life of Orang Laut or what we normally call “Urak-Lawoi” the sea gypsies.
