This year’s SCBT 2024 is taking place from October 16-20 at IOI City Mall, Putrajaya, and this fair will showcase the unique cultures, traditions, and natural attractions each district offers.

Sabah’s CoBT operators also held a groundbreaking B2B session with travel agents from Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Selangor, marking a significant step in promoting rural tourism at a national level.

Assistant Tourism, Culture, and Environment Minister Datuk Joniston Bangkuai highlighted this initiative as the first in Malaysia, showcasing rural Sabah’s unique cultural and adventure experiences.

The session serves as a precursor to the Sabah Community-Based Tourism Fair (SCBTF) 2024. Joniston emphasized the importance of tapping into the increasing trend of eco-tourism, referring to the event as a “game-changer” for collaboration opportunities.

Twenty-seven tourism associations from 22 districts in Sabah participated in the session, each presenting various offerings that underscore the region’s rich natural and cultural heritage. Joniston aimed to attract more visitors to rural areas, reinforcing the Sabah state government’s commitment to supporting local communities through tourism.

The SCBTF will feature 34 booths showcasing tourism associations and local products. Cultural performances, craft demonstrations, and interactive VR experiences that highlight Sabah’s landscapes will also be featured. Attendees can also engage in activities with chances to win prizes, enhancing the overall visitor experience.
