Turtle Island in Sabah Review

Here is a quick Turtle Island in Sabah review; this beautiful paradise is also known as Pulau Selingan Island and is located near Sandakan.
In the photo above, you see guests lying around the beach doing nothing but relaxing. I visited this unique turtle sanctuary and hatchery in October 2010 to experience the overnight stay.
Turtle Island in Sabah Review
To my surprise, the Turtle Island experience was stunning to know how the turtles come in to lay eggs and the routines that take place here.
Turtle Island has only one resort and four main beaches. Guest who come here to observe turtles, namely Hawksbill and Green Turtles who come up nightly to lay their eggs on the beach, will spend an overnight trip here.

During the day, you can simply laze around this private island while the turtles start to come in after dinner at around 9.00 pm.
Turtle Island or Pulau Selingan is about an hour’s boat ride from Sandakan town in East Sabah. Tour companies arrange packages for singles, doubles or families to make an overnight trip.

Below are some random photos taken during my stay here, including some surreal pictures of a turtle laying eggs on the beach and the release of baby green turtles into the sea.

I've been wanting to go there ever since I read about it. Will definitely try to make my way there one day!

Will there definitely be turtles everyday? Wouldn't want to go and ended up seeing nothing!

As I sit here in ridiculously cold temperatures, I can't tell you how nice that beach and sun and water looks. Need to get out of town!!

Now that looks like a relaxing place to chill. No wonder the turtles like it.

Hi.. would you be able to advise me on visiting Borneo 1st week of december? Even though we are not divers, it sounds very appealing, but like the east coast, seems to be risky to visit during december.. We're in malaysia for 6days in total and needed to fix up an itinerary. Would be great to get some help! 🙂
