Wind Cave at Mulu National Park Sarawak
The Wind Cave or Cave of the Winds (Gua Angin in Malay) is located just next to the Clearwater Cave off the Melinau River at the Mulu National Park in Sarawak.
This cave is usually the first stop before heading over to the next cave system, a short 5-minute walk via a wooden walkway along the outside of the cave next to the river.
Another thing about the Wind Cave is that this is also part of the Clearwater Cave system. But the speciality of the Wind Cave is the cool breeze that flows through this cave as you are inside and the unique formations of stalagmite and stalactites.

The Wind Cave also has some really unique rock formations, stalagmites and stalactites. There is an area in the Wind Cave called the King’s Room or Chamber, which have majestic columns of stalagmites and stalactites.

These beautiful majestic columns in the King’s Chamber make the other stalagmites and stalactites from the other caves around Mulu look puny.
They have been formed over the millions of years there, so please do not try to touch them as when I was there, I saw some locals trying to reach out and touch them when the park guide told them off.
The Wind Caves here are also a great place to practice your semi-pro photography. Without flash, mind you.

When you are done at the Wind Caves or Cave of the Winds, you can make your way to the Clearwater Caves by walking along the wooden walkway.
The journey only takes about five minutes, and you will pass the river on your left.
There is a campsite at the end of this walk where toilets are available.
From there, your next caving experience will lead you up 200 stairs to the Clearwater Caves. Your guide and boatman will be at the jetty below, waiting for you once you complete your tour of the caves here.

For anyone planning to visit the Mulu National Park, make sure that you allocate some extra time to visit the many caves found around here, and the Wind Cave is one of the must-visit places.
The national park is well-known to offer some of the best cave experiences in Malaysia and possibly in Southeast Asia.
