Hakka mee is quite a famous dish in the town of Ipoh and is highly popular among Malaysians or even those from Singapore.

As there are also a few well known Hakka Noodle stalls located all around Ipoh town, this noodle shop I went to was located in Taman Timur or Ipoh East and at a restaurant called Kedai Makanan dan Minuman Taman Timur and is actually quite easy to find.

So, what are Hakka Noodles? They are a type of yellow noodles cooked in water and served almost dry or with soup and topped with minced chicken or pork and condiments.

Each Hakka Noodle stall will be judged by the texture of the noodles and the taste of the sauce. There are a variety of Hakka noodle stalls around Malaysia that serves this dish in their own style, mostly passed on by generations.

After you enter the Jusco, turn right at the traffic lights and head all the way about 1km. You will pass under a flyover and after the flyover, you will see a row of shop lots on your right.

This restaurant is the last shop in the end while there is a lot of parking available around the restaurant.

The noodle stall is located right in front of the coffee shop next to the Nonya Cake/Kueh stall.

Ordering your noodles can be quick or you may have to wait, depending on the number of people there. It took him about 15 minutes before our noodles came so it was average waiting.

For those wanting something else, the stall also sells Yong Tau Foo and they are pretty decent for taste compared to others that I have tried.

Yong Tau Foo is a type of Chinese food dish where the fish paste is stuffed in bean curd and other vegetables, homemade fish ball and meatballs.

The overall taste for the dish, I would give it an 8/10. I have also tried the other noodles in the town area where they seem to do it a little better than this one here.

For the noodle lovers and fans, you should give this a try next time you make a trip to Ipoh, Perak.

This time around, I could not resist trying the iced Pomelo drink as I have never seen this being sold until coming to this restaurant in Ipoh.

And from a neutral point of view, this is a total rip off. The taste is not there and a little sweet so avoid this if you see it.

This restaurant also claims to have one of the better Chicken Rice stall selling Roasted Chicken, Char Siew (Roasted Sweet Pork) and Siew Yoke (Roast Pork).

Well, I only ordered a plate with all three items mixed without rice. Overall, it was just average to my taste. I have had better in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya.

Conclusion

On a more personal note, I am not a very huge fan of noodles but once in a way, I would indulge in a plate of noodles which would be the dry type.

Overall, I prefer to have Wan Tan Noodles which are my all-time favorite until I discovered the Hakka Mee in Ipoh which has now been added o my list of favorites.
