Koh Lipe Sunrise in Thailand is my Picture of the Week. This beautiful island at the Taruto National Park is one of Thailand’s hidden gems.

With no vehicles and basic infrastructure, Ko Lipe in Southern Thailand is one of the premier locations for Backpackers, Island Lovers, Scuba Divers and Sun Seekers.

Koh Lipe Sunrise Photo

Having been here twice in one year during the off-season and the peak season, I know this is one of the most beautiful islands on the West Coast of Thailand.

It is truly a paradise when you come here during the off-season, and at times, you can have the entire beach to yourself. With all the freedom, this is one of the best times to photograph the sunrise and sunset of Koh Lipe.

A sunrise photo that thrills photographers.

Those interested in visiting this unique place read up about How to go to Koh Lipe. The main reason is that it is not an easy place to just fly in as there are no airports here.

You must know what to expect on this island, unlike the other famous islands throughout Thailand, like Phuket or Koh Samui.

This is an off-the-beaten-path island, suitable for those wanting something unique, compared to the usual commercial islands of Koh Samui, Koh Phangan or even Phuket.

Boat schedules are limited and only available from specific areas. There are no ATM machines on the island. Everyone here moves around on foot. Update: There are now ATM machines available on Koh Lipe.

For photographers, land or underwater, there is an abundance of choices to choose from here; you just need to know when is the correct time to do so.

I also took this unique picture of Koh Lipe Beach. Overall, if you are an avid island lover, this is one of the islands you must visit and best if you can visit the beach and catch the beautiful Koh Lipe Sunrise.

This sounds like my kind of place. Perfect to unplug and get away from civilization. Do you have recommendations on where to stay?

Koh Lipe is a part of the Tarutao National Marine Park and is a wonderful island. It consists of 3 beaches and Pattaya Beach is the most popular of all.

Lisa – Absolutely a must visit place when you travel to Thailand.

Grace – If you love the quietness, I would recommend Mountain Resort on the back end of the island. If you love the party lifestyle, then Pattaya or Sunrise Beach. Diving? Castaway Resort is really nice.

Kelly – Yes, please check on how to get there. You'd probably go via Pak Bara Town.

Chianti – Thank you so much. It is beautiful!

Fantastic island, really wonderful holiday. We recommend this place for anyone. I can't say enough about this up and coming bungalow. The location is great. The staff made us feel welcome. We loved our room, it's huge with a giant vaulted ceiling, a terrace, and big curtains. We have never stayed with an outdoor bathroom and I must say it takes some getting used to, but the rain shower is amazing after coming back from the beach. We were sunburned after kayaking and snorkeling the first day so we just ordered room service and watched borrowed movies in the room on the second day. We got to know owners Derrik and Sam a little on some evenings at the bar. We were able to learn their story and gain some unique insight about Lipe . Anyways since there isn't much to do in the evenings we went to bed so early. Leaving for us was kind of a sad experience because we just felt so comfortable. If you're going to visit koh Lipe, we truly recommend Mali resort. It's fun, relaxed, with nice people and good service. Koh Lipe is our favorite spot so far in Thailand.
