Magic of the Night Boat Parade Putrajaya

The Magic of the Night Boat Parade Putrajaya was officially officiated by the Malaysian Tourism Minister Ng Yen Yen, Director General Tourism Malaysia Datuk Mirza Mohammad Taiyab and the Queen of Malaysia Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah on the 30th June 2012.

This event was done in conjunction with the Putrajaya Flower and Garden Festival, which is now known as Royal Floria, and it is one of the colorful events of Malaysia.

Last year, a total of one million people visited the Putrajaya Floral Event where the night boat parade was launched over a span of nine days.

This year, the tourism ministry hopes to achieve a slightly larger number to this unique event at Putrajaya. At this year’s event launch, foreign media and journalists were invited from all over Asia.

Seen were media from Japan, Thailand, Laos, India, and Cambodia which were treated to a local ‘kampung‘ style dinner buffet.

The official press conference then concluded with a Durian eating session at one of the mock up kampung houses.

The Magic of the Night Parade features 15 beautifully illuminated boats
that cruise along the lake in Precinct 2 near the Millennium Monument.

All the boats then meet up in front of the main area and to conclude, a five-minute fireworks display will be the final show which will take place every
night from 8.30 pm to 10.30 pm, beginning on the 30th June till the 8th of July.

This event is free to the public where you can simply choose the lakeside or bridge to catch this magnificent show.

During the Magic of the Night Parade, the participating boats are decorated to perfection with colorful lights and unique designs
based on flora and fauna which represents the participating states of Malaysia.

Among those states taking part, there were floats from the Langkawi Development Authority, Putrajaya
Corporation, Perlis, Perak, Sabah, Sarawak, Pahang, Terengganu, Melaka, and Negeri Sembilan.

There were also two international countries who also took part which had beautiful floats. There were from Kenya, Africa, and China.

Light show at the Magic of the Night

Right after Her Royal Highness, the Queen of Malaysia officiated the event, a display of stunning lights and fireworks lit up the skies of Putrajaya much to the amusement of the waiting crowds.

This was then followed by the international boats of China and Kenya who were the first to sail down the lake and then by boats from each of the Malaysian states.

For those who want to witness this spectacular event at night, you should make your way to Putrajaya as the event will be announced by the ministry, and usually in the months of June, July or August. Showtime is from 8.30 pm till 10.30 pm in Precinct 2, Lakeside.

Landmarks include the Wawasan Bridge, Ministry of Finance and the Millennium Monument, the one that looks like a rocket.
