Kuala Lumpur #2 best shopping city in Asia Pacific
The city of Kuala Lumpur has been ranked #2 best shopping city in the Asia Pacific according to the latest Globe Shopper Index in late October 2012.
In this recent survey, twenty-five cities in the region were assessed under five categories shops, culture, and climate, hotels and transport, affordability and convenience.
In this survey, Kuala Lumpur (KL) achieved the second-highest overall score of 65 out of 100, which is very impressive for the tourism statistics.
Kuala Lumpur Best Shopping City in Asia Pacific
At the top of the list was Hong Kong which scored higher 68.5 edging other cities for its safety, dependable city transport and variety of shops and brands.

5. Singapore – 60.2
6. Sydney – 58.4
7. Bangkok – 57.1
8. Tokyo – 56.4

The Global Shopper Index also rates Kuala Lumpur as a specific strength is its ability to combine low prices with a good range of products in a large number of stores, including three of the world’s 10 biggest shopping malls.
Predictions that KL had the potential to perform better in future indexes due to the Government’s efforts to promote retail tourism where shopping is one of the main attractions in Malaysia.
Also taken note was the Malaysian Government’s mammoth investments in
developing KLCC and Bukit Bintang as a premier shopping precinct in
Malaysia is known as the BBKLCC.
This newly themed area is a
shopping paradise in the heart of Malaysia and a destination where
fashion, food, and entertainment thrive.
There are over 3,000 stores
across nine shopping malls in Bukit Bintang,
and all are located in the BBKLCC area which are BB Plaza, Berjaya
Times Square, fahrenheit88, Lot 10, Pavilion KL, Plaza Low Yat, Starhill
Gallery, Sungei Wang Plaza to Suria KLCC.
