Malindo Air opens its online booking site as the new budget airline in Malaysia is set to take off this 22nd March 2013 after getting its air operator certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Department in February.

Malindo Air has also launched its first promotion to Kuching and Kota Kinabalu from KLIA. The tag line “Not Just Low Cost”, promises super low fares to both cities on the island of Borneo from this hybrid airline.

For those who plan to visit Kota
Kinabalu in Sabah, you can enjoy low fares of RM68 from KLIA one way. For Business Class tickets to Kuching and Kota Kinabalu, prices are from RM388 and RM588 respectively one way.

Malindo Air will also be the first in Malaysia to operate using the new Boeing 737-900ER planes with a seating capacity of 180.

The new Boeing 737-900 planes can also service sectors within a five and a half hour range, giving interesting choices for destinations around Southeast Asia and Asia.

Malindo Air also operates on a Hybrid Airline approach, which offers low airfares with passengers having the choice to choose for additional comfort services at a surcharge.

This has never been done before and is also one of the new concepts that are being offered by the new budget airline in Malaysia.

Free Luggage Check-In for Malindo Passengers

Malindo Air is also offering a Free 15kg baggage check-in for its economy passengers while business class passengers will get a free 30kg baggage check-in.

This is one of the perks for those who are booking with the new budget airline.

Guests can soon book KL-Kuching and KL-KK Tickets from the official website of Malindo Air but please note that they are still undergoing final fixes that are mentioned on the main site. You can, however, register an account there for now. 
What Else? 

Passengers departing from KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) instead of LCCT. You get to use the aerobridge instead of walking on the tarmac.

When KLIA2 Opens, Malindo Air should also be moving their services there.

Conclusion

Malindo is a joint venture between Malaysia’s National Aerospace Defence Industries (Nadi) Sdn Bhd and Indonesia’s largest domestic carrier Lion Air parent PT Lion Group.

They are rumored to take on budget air giants AirAsia in the market share of Southeast Asia in the coming years.

To start the massive campaign, the media has caught light of the news that Malindo Air has started its online booking site.
