Sarawak Sunset Photo

This beautiful sunset photo in Sarawak was taken from the 17th floor of the Meritz Hotel in Miri town. Overlooking the entire city, the Meritz hotel offers one of the best views from the open-concept Sky Bar on the 17th floor.

I captured this sunset photo when I visited the Meritz Hotel during the Borneo Jazz Festival for a press conference with the Sarawak Tourism Board. The unique cocktail event was held at the sky bar, one of the recommended places to catch a sunset in Miri.

Where are the best places to see sunsets in Sarawak? 

Overall, Miri was well known as an oil city but was re-branded as a resort city by the sea, and is one of the best places to see sunsets. Numerous locations are available throughout the city area, namely at the Meritz Sky Bar or by the main beaches.

For photographers who want to capture the best sunset photos, it is recommended that they engage a local in Miri. A Miri photography tour company specializes in these kinds of trips. Other interesting places in Sarawak include Damai Beach in Santubong, about an hour from Kuching.

You can also see some of Sarawak’s most beautiful sunsets at Damai, and it’s even better if you can climb Mount Santubong. For those who do not know, Miri City is one of the main gateways to the Mulu National Park and Niah National Park in Sarawak.
