The Most Instagrammed Places in 2013

With 2014 fast approaching, media companies around the world are hard at work churning out their obligatory year-in-review/look ahead roundups.

This can be a double edged sword and can make or break a destination, depending on who is coming out with the list. Current generation travelers tend to follow trends, and this list was issued out from CNN.

The Most Instagrammed Places in 2013

Once again, an attraction in Bangkok topped the list of the most Instagrammed places. Last year, the Thai capital’s international airport snagged the lead spot.

New to the most popular list in 2013: Walt Disney World, New York City’s High Line and Central Park and the Bellagio Fountains in Las Vegas.

List of Most Instagrammed Places

1. Siam Paragon, Bangkok
2. Times Square, New York
3. Disneyland, Anaheim, California
4. Bellagio Fountains, Las Vegas
5. Disney World Florida
6. Staples Center, Los Angeles
7. Central Park, New York
8. Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles
9. Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), Bangkok
10. The High Line, New York

That Bangkok managed to sneak two places into an otherwise exclusively U.S. list certainly seems curious. Read more from the original article from CNN on the most instagrammed places in 2013.

Over the years, there have been many new places that have taken over the current list, and year by year, the Instagram places keep changing due to the current trends.

Right now, many international media companies like CNN, Lonely Planet, Forbes, BBC Travel and many other digital marketing companies keep coming up with their own lists.

This simply says that the places highlighted are purely based on their own following and readership. Honestly, if you ask me, I would take the actual Instagram analytics on the yearly places that are in the top ten.

Due to the digital trends that keep changing over time, anyone can just come up with a list of the most instagrammed places, including me. But there would be no credibility, except for listicle purposes to drive traffic.
