Malaysia Year of Festivals

The Malaysia Year of Festivals was done in 2015 (MyFest 2015) was the follow up major event after Visit Malaysia Year 2014 or VMY2014 which has seen numbers increase in tourism arrivals to Malaysia.

The Year of Festival was also announced in mid 2014 where the tourism minister of Malaysia had indicated that the back-to-back major events would increase the number of arrivals and also the tourism spending here in Malaysia.

There are still many industry players who are unaware of Malaysia Year of Festival 2015 and what the direction is.

However, from what I have gathered, the campaign is aimed to follow through from Visit Malaysia Year 2014 and to highlight on the various festivals and cultures found around diverse Malaysia.

This will also include the many unique cultures found in peninsular Malaysia and also in Sabah and Sarawak in Malaysia Borneo.

Update 16 October, 2014 – The Malaysia Year of Festivals Logo revealed.

As for Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015, the tourism minister has indicated that the tourism ministry target is to achieve 29.4 million tourist arrivals and RM89 billion in tourist receipts for MyFest 2015.

This would be a continuation of the Visit Malaysia Year 2014 and it is aimed at creating awareness among Malaysians and foreign visitors on the various festivals in the country.

While many await the official news of the ‘Year of Festival’, the tourism industry believes that MyFest 2015 would spur tourists to stay longer in Malaysia to shop and travel due to the diverse products available at the various festivals.

And the best part about this is that they are done almost every month of the year. Among the main festivals in Malaysia for 2015, they are;

It was also noted in 2014 that VISA will be designated as the Official Card for MyFest 2015, apart from already being the official card for VMY2014.

Further information will be shared once it is confirmed by the ministry of tourism and culture.

Update: The official MyFest 2015 Logo has been revealed by the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia in September 2014.

Currently, as the industry awaits the official guidelines and theme for MYOF 2015, Sarawak Tourism has already contributed by offering 10 of Sarawak’s Best for the Year of Festival in Malaysia.
