WWE Malaysia 2014 Photos and Review
The second time around, WWE Malaysia 2014 gave fans in Malaysia a performance never to forget this decade. Held at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, WWE superstars made their way here for a two day live event which saw over 15,000 wrestling fans cheer and jeer throughout the event. Organaised by Astro and fully supported by Malaysia Major Events, fans were thrilled with superstars like John Cena, Sheamus, Big Show and many other wrestlers from the stables of WWE.
For me, I have been an avid wrestling fan for almost three decades now, growing up only to see the evolution of wrestlers go from ring performers to movie stars, managers and even chief operating officers. My heyday was peak during the last decade when wrestlers like The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mankind, Hulk Hogan, Triple H and the infamous Hardy Boys ruled the rings and unfortunately, none of them were here except for a moment when Triple H made a video appearance on screen as the COO of WWE to welcome Malaysians before the match.

Overall, after 12 years and my second time attending WWE in Malaysia, I could not be happier to be where the action was. Memories came back to me as the last WWE Live in Malaysia saw me and my younger brother going crazy back then. This time around, the mood was a little less due mainly to the line up of new stars performing. Nevertheless, it was an exciting show on the second day of WWE Malaysia with John Cena opening the match, a couple of tag team matches, a WWE Diva match, a 4-way match and the finale for the United States WWE Championship Match with retaining champion Sheamus fighting Seth Rollins ‘Money in the Bank’.

The crowd was already growing at 6pm when I got there with thousands of fans surrounding the stadium, majority of them in their WWE t-shirts and bandannas while some were seen carrying the famous hand-written posters either for supporting or mocking the stars. One which caught my eye said “Cena Sucks” while he was one of the main attractions.
As I made my way to the Premier Club VIP lounge area to meet friends there, I was welcomed by hostesses with a goody bag which contained an official WWE souvenir book and a poster. This was a special area where VIP ticket holders were treated to cocktails and drinks and also a special appearance by Sheamus on a mini stage where he talked about the show and how it was his first time in Malaysia and how he loved it.
The event opened with WWE Superstar John Cena take on Bray Wyatt accompanied by Luke Harper and Erik Rowan where Cena won the match. This followed by various other tag team matches, a WWE Diva Match and finally the United States Championship Belt match.

Sheamus thanks the Malaysia WWE fans and promises to return |
After the final match, Sheamus who retained his title of WWE United States Championship Belt took the mike and wished Malaysian fans thank you and promised that this will not be the last of WWE in Malaysia where he promised to make a return back to the country very soon in the near future. The wrestling show concluded about 10.00pm. You can also see more photos of the matches on the Malaysia Asia Facebook Page. (Don’t forget to Like Us)
My only disappointment was that the WWE Live in Malaysia show had no schedule of the matches or who was performing on which day. In my earlier article titled WWE Live in Malaysia 2014, a number of people were asking about the performers list as they wanted to catch their favourite stars, unfortunately Astro, the organizers who were the main sponsor, did not have this information. Even on their Stadium Astro website. This looked like they were all out to get fans to come and attend the show for both days.
Overall, the show was very entertaining which saw all walks of life attending this wrestling match here in Malaysia. Young and old were there, many cheering and many chanting along to the popular chants of each of the wrestlers. Right now, wrestling is still huge in Malaysia and many are awaiting the next WWE Live in Malaysia.
