Malaysia International Dive Expo 2015
The Malaysia International Dive Expo 2015, or MIDE 2015, will take place from 12 to 14 June at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur. This scuba diving event also marks the 10th anniversary of the dive expo here in KL, Malaysia, and was officiated by the Malaysian Tourism Minister, Datuk Seri Nazri, on June 12.
Malaysia International Dive Expo
At the MIDE 2015 launching, the minister spoke about scuba diving in Malaysia and how it has attracted many divers from around the world, especially to places like Sipadan Island, one of the world’s top diving spots.
The dive expo is also the largest in Malaysia, and over 100 booths were taken up by various dive companies, suppliers, and operators, both locally and internationally. Many local and international vendors were seen promoting new diving products, and photography equipment was also being sold.

Diving equipment came in all shapes and sizes, and due to the high demand, new fancy types of equipment in various colours were available. Prices of the dive equipment ranged from budget to luxury to suit the different markets in Malaysia.
Apart from dive-related products, there were also a number of non-profit organisations here, like Reef Check Malaysia, which conducts reef and marine surveys around Malaysia. They are also involved in the Green Fins Project, where dive operators follow a 15-point code of conduct for environmentally friendly diving standards.

Tourism bodies also had booths here promoting diving in their respective countries. Sabah Tourism, Tourism Malaysia and the Philippines Department of Tourism had extra-large booths to promote their products.
Other products sold here were the popular dry bag brands HyperGear and RipCurl, which offered a special discount only for MIDE. For anyone who is a diver or interested in diving, the Malaysia International Dive Expo 2015 is the best place to start. It is where you can get all the information you need to pursue this fascinating hobby.
Below is a MIDE 2015 video taken on the 1st day to give you an overall view of what to expect here.

Many dive operators and resorts were seen at MIDE 2015 promoting unique destinations such as Raja Ampat, the Maldives, Manado, and others. Among them, the only Dive Oil Rig Resort in the world, Seaventures, was also there.
Seaventures is located off the island of Mabul in Sabah, just near Sipadan and is one of Malaysia’s most popular dive destinations. Packages were promoted by offering fantastic deals that can only be found during the event.
As we walked around the expo, we noticed many local divers buying diving packages to islands around Malaysia and some even overseas, and we were tempted to buy a package, too.

ADCON or Asia Dive Conference
The event also highlights ADCON, or the Asia Dive Conference, which is in its second instalment at MIDE Malaysia. This recreational dive conference was initiated to cater to new divers and professionals, discussing diving information, technical advice, specialist lectures, and, most importantly, diver education.
Several local and international speakers are invited to cover a spectrum of topics for novice divers and professionals seeking to enhance their knowledge and acquire new skills.
