If you are visiting this part of China, taking the Chongqing Cable Car is a must-do for anyone here. Why, you may ask, but truth be told, this is your one chance to take a cable car ride over the mighty Yangtze River. Now you know that this fantastic trip costs only 10 RMB both ways. And after riding the cable car across the Yangtze River, you can cross this off your China bucket list.

Alright, let’s get to the details—Chongqing is actually one of the largest cities in China and perhaps in the world. When you stand at one end and look across the Yangtze River, it kind of looks like New York, with all the skyscrapers popping up everywhere.

Because the city is split into three parts by two rivers, the cable car system, which has a length of 1166 meters and crosses the mighty Yangtze River, was built in 1987.

Many locals prefer this mode of transport to avoid traffic jams, and the cableway journey lasts about five minutes one way; if you can, get in first so you can have a great view and have your camera ready. This is also called the Yangtze River Cableway and is a popular tourist attraction here. Below are photos of the Chongqing Cable Car.

How To Get  To The Chong Cable Car?

To get to the Chongqing Cable Car, look for the main entrance, which is at Changjiang Suodao. It is a 10 to 15-minute walk from the Liberation Monument, and you will also find it beside the Metro Station Xiaoshizi. You will most likely be staying on the non-commercial side of Chongqing, too.

Additional Tips
1. If you go during peak times, weekends, or holiday seasons, the wait for a three-minute ride across can be anywhere from one to three hours.
2. To avoid long waits, it’s best to go when it just opens. The minimum wait can be around 30 minutes to an hour.
3. If this does not fascinate you or you dislike waits and crowds, I recommend you skip it and head to the shopping streets instead.
4. Some visitors like to come here for the sunset shots over the Yangtze River.

Conclusion
I would classify Chongqing as one of China’s up-and-coming tourist destinations, and a lot has been spent on its tourism infrastructure. Many natural wonders and fascinating attractions exist, such as the fantastic Cloud Bridge Glass Skywalk and the incredible Glass Cliff Walk at Yunyang. AirAsia X has direct flights to Chongqing from Kuala Lumpur for those planning to visit this fascinating city.

It is also best to book your flight tickets in advance to get a good deal, and when you arrive here, make sure you spend about an hour exploring and riding the Chongqing Cable Car across the Yangtze River.
