Last year’s Malaysia International Dive Expo 2015 saw an increase in the number of scuba divers and the general public attending the diving trade and consumer show in Kuala Lumpur. This year, Malaysia’s Tourism Minister, Dato Nazri, and the Director-General of Tourism Malaysia, Dato Mirza, officiated at the event.
As a diver myself, I have been diving at several locations around Malaysia and, lately, spending more time diving in Miri, Sarawak. Miri is one of the upcoming locations for leisure diving due to its need to be commercialised.
Among the many Miri dive sites, most are rich with coral life and fish and are easily accessed from the mainland by boat, which is only 20-30 minutes out. There are, in fact, many other Sarawak dive sites to explore, and they can be easily done with licensed dive operators here.
