Tourism Malaysia Arrival Statistics 2019
In 2019, Malaysia managed to record a 2.4 percent growth in tourism receipts totaling RM86.14 billion. In 2018, the total receipts were RM84.1 billion.
This was thanks to the early build-up campaign to Visit Malaysia 2020 and various marketing strategies that have been done by Tourism Malaysia.
Tourism Malaysia Arrival Statistics 2019
The tourism arrivals have been slowly increasing last year, and it was heading towards the set target arrivals for the Visit Malaysia Year 2020.
Originally, Tourism Malaysia was confident that the country would welcome a total of 30 million tourist arrivals for 2020 with a whopping RM100 billion in tourist receipts.

The Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board or Tourism Malaysia announced the statistics which are;
- Per capita expenditure rose by 1.3 percent to RM3,300 from RM3,257
- Average Length of Stay (ALOS) climbed by 0.9 nights to 7.4 nights
- Overall Tourist Expenditure in Malaysia: Asean Region – RM43.72 billion

Top Three Distribution of Tourist Receipts in Malaysia
- Shopping at 33.6%
- Accommodation 24%
- Food and beverages 13.3%
Tourism Malaysia has also indicated that the shopping receipts grew from 33.4% in 2018 to 33.6% in 2019.

The last article with the statistics was on tourism arrivals in Malaysia for 2016. That was also during the peak of the China tourists that were visiting Malaysia.
