Travelodge Honmachi Osaka Review
My Travelodge Honmachi Osaka review is based purely on the fact that this chain of hotels is quite suitable for all kinds of travellers. Because of its logistics and simplicity, this hotel made my stay in Osaka memorable.
As I travel to Japan frequently for my work in promoting various genres of unique tourism, accommodations are essential for me because I move around a lot, and staying out of the way is always inconvenient. Therefore, I encountered an interesting hotel chain called Travelodge, which has several hotels in Japan and other countries worldwide.
Travelodge Honmachi Osaka Review
My latest adventure took me to Osaka in September 2024, and it was a perfect blend of nature and urban exploration. As someone who loves birdwatching, I had set my sights on exploring some of the best birding spots around the city.
At the same time, I wanted to soak in the vibrant essence of Osaka’s city life—the delicious food, the bustling shopping districts, and the unmistakable scent of the Osaka streets. After much consideration, I found the ideal place to stay: Travelodge Honmachi.

Typically, I spend about a week in each city I visit, and this time, I split my days between the heart of Osaka and its quieter outskirts, where birdwatching opportunities are abundant. From peaceful parks to serene wetlands, I had plenty of chances to observe Japan’s beautiful bird species.
Of course, no trip to Osaka would be complete without experiencing its rich food scene and unique shopping experiences. The contrast of nature and urban life was precisely what I was looking for.
Here’s a little tip for anyone planning a trip to Osaka: staying in the city centre has perks and challenges. While you’re close to all the action, room prices tend to be higher, and the heavy traffic noise can be overwhelming, especially if you’re staying near the main areas.
I learned this the hard way on past visits, so I now prefer staying a bit further from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Travelodge Honmachi Osaka struck the perfect balance—close enough to enjoy the city’s vibrancy, yet far enough to escape the noise and high prices.
Rooms at Travelodge Honmachi Osaka

The rooms are designed with a simple, modern aesthetic that promotes relaxation after a busy day of exploring Osaka. Travelodge has partnered with France Bed, a renowned Japanese high-end bed brand, to ensure you get a restful night’s sleep so you’re ready for another exciting day in the city.
For business travellers, each room is equipped with a convenient working desk and complimentary high-speed internet access. Whether you’re here for work or leisure, you’ll enjoy a stress-free stay with seamless connectivity, making it easy to stay productive while enjoying all Osaka has to offer.
In terms of space, it is perfect for single couples who do not require much space, but you should know that in Japan, hotel room space is a luxury, and at Travelodge Honmachi, the rooms are just perfectly sized. Moreover, you will spend most of the day outside and only back to shower and sleep in your room. That is the reality of Japanese travel.

I am fascinated by Japanese bathrooms and toilets; this one at Travelodge is quite interesting. It compresses everything into one bathroom and provides a little more space than most other hotels I have stayed in Japan. Check out the bathroom photos below.
For the room types, the hotel offers six choices, which are;
- Standard Single
- Superior Double
- Deluxe Queen
- Deluxe Twin
- Friends and Family Triple
- Friends and Family Deluxe
Below are random photos I took of the room using only my smartphone.

Breakfast at Travelodge Honmachi Osaka
Honestly, if you make a room booking here, you will want to add the breakfast option. I say this confidently because I tried not to have the breakfast choice and ended up eating at McDonald’s most days.
In Japan, breakfast is quite tricky as most of the restaurants or cafes only open around 9.00 to 10.00 AM, so if you are up early, like 6.00 or 7.00 AM, and walk around looking for a place to have breakfast, you will never find that place except McD’s.
So, based on my personal experience, I now choose the breakfast option whenever I stay in Japan because I don’t want to have the inconvenience of walking all over looking for a decent place to eat.

The breakfast at Travelodge Honmachi is quite good; you have the best of both worlds with choices between Japanese and Western. And I love their breakfast plates that have individual pockets, making it easy to select and not mix your food.
Coffee, tea, soft drinks, and hot soup are all dispensed by automated machines, making them easy and convenient. The coffee was one of my favourite machines; you could choose from latte to expresso with decent quality.

Travelodge Honmachi Osaka Location
The hotel is ideally located in the bustling Midosuji area, Osaka’s vibrant shopping hub, and is only a ten-minute walk from the hotel. Popular destinations like Shinsaibashi and Namba are just a short walk away, and you’ll be surrounded by street food, shopping, and entertainment. Everything Osaka has to offer is right at your doorstep.
And even more exciting is the world-famous Osaka Castle, which is on the right side of the map above, and taking a taxi here will cost you around ¥1200 one way. There’s also many other interesting and nice shopping in the vicinity.
What sets the hotel apart from other hotels in the city? Its location is just steps away from Honmachi subway station, which connects you to four subway lines, making it easy to get around. Travel couldn’t be more convenient if you’re heading to Osaka Station, Shin-Osaka Station, Itami Airport, or Kansai Airport.

Conclusion
I also stayed at the Travelodge Kyoto Shijo Kawaramachi on another different trip there in 2024, and the experience was equally surreal. Kyoto is hands down one of the best cultural cities in Japan to visit, and the hotel is located in the central city area, near the artistic and cultural part of Kyoto, which is the Gion District.
Finally, I hope you enjoyed my Travelodge Honmachi Osaka review and that you will have a happy experience staying at this accommodation when in Osaka, Japan. I want the convenience and peacefulness of this place, and if you’re a traveller like me, you may like it.
