Laguna Redang Island Resort

The Laguna Redang Island Resort is one of the popular resorts in Redang Island and is also one of the largest resorts here. Based on a traditional Malay design, the resort has 222 rooms from standard, deluxe, sea view and suites on this island also known to the locals as Pulau Redang. This stunning island is home to one of the most beautiful islands in Malaysia and is one of the top holiday destinations in this region.
There are a few ways of getting here and the most common being via ferry from Kuala Terengganu town. From the picture above, you would probably be arriving via Berjaya Air which operates the only flight service to Redang Island. Landing at the mini airport, you will be sent here through the main entrance. Alternatively the ferry service would also send you to a jetty which is located just near the main entrance too. You need to double check with the ferry service on which part of the island it is headed too. Once near the island, you may also need to check with the ferry workers about the correct landing jetty.
The Laguna Redang Resort is somehow quite popular as they are located along one of the best beaches in on the island. It is also located right next to Redang Reef Resort and before all the other resorts along this beautiful beach. The resort complex is huge as they have facilities like a fantastic sports and recreational center, a fully equipped dive shop and also seven food and beverage outlets.
With a resort at this scale, you are sure that you are getting a great deal due to the full facilities available here. Some people just hate it when they check in to a resort to find out there are not much choices available, so Laguna Redang is a sure thing especially if you are coming with your family or a group of friends.
Prices here are a little on the higher side compared to the basic resorts around the island. One will be expected to pay around RM428.00 (US$142.00) per person for a 3 Days 2 Night package. However, booking via travel agents or the Internet may land you a cheaper deal if you are out for a bargain.
Some tour companies offer you a full board package with flight or ferry charges included so you might get a really good deal. Walking in would only result in you paying the standard rates published. Then again, if you are a backpacker, this is not the place for you.
Judging from the map above you can see how large the resort area is. I was at the main jetty when I took this picture showing where you are.
Finally, I find the beach here really nice but not the absolute peaceful type. You will be getting the families with kids running around and the occasional neighbour coming around as the Laguna beach is on the main stretch. You can also venture along the beach and explore the area. Just outside the Laguna Redang, the neighboring resort is called Redang Reef Resort. You can walk along the wooden platform by the rocks to visit this other smaller two-star resort.
The waters here are quite nice but not the ones you see in postcards. Trust me, I have been to isolated islands and have seen the ultimate clear water with powder white sands. At Redang, they are just clear with white sands. Certain places around Redang island does have nice waters for snorkeling and diving.
